Lasantha Wickremesooriya
Lasantha Wickremesooriya is a management specialist, strategist, marketer, researcher, advisor, speaker and a teacher. His industry career spans over four decades and have been engaged in agriculture, food, logistics, aquaculture, hardware, veterinary, audit & company secretarial practice and management consultancy. He has been a C-level executive during most of his career and has served on the Boards of several companies. He was instrumental in bringing about several turnarounds of loss making institutions and creating growth, an area he specialises in.
It is this diversity, exposure (both in domestic and international markets) and practice that he brings forth in crafting directions to organisations. His advisory services spans across diverse industry and includes both private and public sector institutions. He has also served with distinction in several trade associations associated with the chamber movement in Sri Lanka. In the professional sphere, he served as a Trustee of Board of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK and also served as the Chairman of the audit committee of the same institute. He has been trained on entrepreneurship, management and corporate strategy at the prestigious Association for Overseas Technical Scholarships in Japan.
Academically, his passion for teaching commenced with tutoring for the Diploma examinations of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK and subsequently moved to the MBA programme conducted by the Faculty of Management & Finance, University of Colombo and several other foreign universities operating through franchises in Colombo. His tutoring in the areas of Strategic management, Change management, International marketing, International business and Leadership spans over 25 years, both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He underwent training on the ‘Case Method Teaching’ conducted by the Harvard Business Publication Education.
He also conducts training and development programmes for corporate executives in strategic thinking, strategic management & competitive advantage, change management, customer relationship management to name a few. He has also carried out two international studies for the Centre of Sustainable Agricultural Mechanization (CSAM) under the auspices of the UNESCAP.
Lasantha Wickremesooriya is currently reading for his Doctoral studies at the Faculty of Management & Finance, University of Colombo, where his research interests are in firm’s performance, resource heterogeneity and competitive advantage.
